Rael almost snarled with frustration. Why couldn’t she do it? Why couldn’t she master this move?
It had seemed simple enough when the instructor was demonstrating.
“Go back to your cat stance again.”
Rael did as she was told, balancing lightly on her feet and taking care to keep the points of the sais point away from her sides. She raised the sais above her head, then slid her foot across the floor and pivoted neatly, concentrating on keeping her elbows straight and at just the right angle. She breathed in and out, her movements as fluid as a cat’s.
“Good so far. Keep going.”
No. She needed to be perfect.
