Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7
Two weeks later
Pomegranate Blush was definitely my colour of lip gloss.
I grinned, spritzed on one last spray of perfume and left the bathroom. My phone chimed happily to announce a text.
I’m here
I bounced into the kitchen and did a little twirl. “What do you think?”
“You look lovely,” Mina said. “Are you sure that top fits right?”
“It does. Thank you so much.” I wore a long-sleeved purple top that Mina had made for me herself, with a sinched waist and sequins sewn onto it in a floral pattern. As well as the top, I wore a dark jacket, my smartest pair of jeans and new black boots.
On the sideboard was a vase full of lilies. Some were white and pink dawn lilies, others were blue and purple dusk lilies. They went perfectly together. Mum had even given me a little patch on the farm to grow flowers to sell in the shop; the dusk lilies had proven to be very popular.
Mum came over and kissed me on the cheek. “You’re stunning, darling. Tell Hayden to drive safely.”
“He will, Mum. Don’t worry.”
“That’s what mothers do, Flora. It’s part of our job.”
I laughed, giving her a hug. “See you later!”
Hayden was outside with the motorbike; my heart caught when I saw him. He looked both roguish and dashing in his black leather jacket.
“Beautiful,” he said warmly as I approached.
“Thanks. You look pretty good yourself.”
He had one helmet under one arm; the other, he held out to me. “Hope you like sunsets over the sea.”
“I do.” Especially when they’re shared with someone.
He put his helmet on and got onto the motorbike. I did the same, holding him securely around the waist as the motorbike thrummed into life.
“Ready?” he asked.
“Let’s ride.”
The End. Thank you for reading!
